Faith Formation
Greetings!

Thank you for visiting the Faith Formation page. The process of cultivating our faith has been called by many names through the years. Christian Formation, Catechism, and Catechesis are all labels that have been used to describe the process. Whatever word you are used to hearing, one thing is clear; this is a process that continues throughout our lifetimes. One excellent aide in the process is to read the
Daily Scripture Readings.
Too often we Catholics have been willing to delegate the work of Faith Formation to "others." Please take a moment and read the following quote, from the Synod of Charleston.
"All Catholics, including our bishop, our priests, religious and laity, must assume cooperative responsibility for meeting the educational needs of adults and children through prayerful and judicious use of resources, including finances, facilities, personnel, and materials. Catholics must realize, however, that it is not enough to give only from their material resources; Catholics must also share their gifts of time as well as their personal talents. We must all support the efforts of Christian formation through devout prayer and lives of self-sacrifice."
--Synod of Charleston, pg.57-58
Clearly, the Church mandate sayst that we all are responsible for promoting Christian Formation. At St. John the Beloved, we allocate a significant portion of our resources to forming our community in faith. Beyond that, the participation of lay people in roles of catechists and workers of many types are critical. We invite you to join in this endeavor, and in the process, enrich your own spiritual experience.
Content about our Faith Formation programs will continue to be added here in the coming days and weeks. If you have questions about this topic, you may reach Sr. Mary Jane Golden at the
