High School Youth Ministry
The High School Youth Ministry offers programs for teens in the 9-12th grades. Our meetings and trips are fun, thought provoking, and a great place to meet friends and share in our Catholic faith. Come meet us, we want to meet YOU!
High School Youth Ministry Life Nights
Meets Sunday nights from 6-7:30pm in Madden Hall.
Come listen to stories, play games, see some skits, and learn more about our Catholic faith. In the past year we have gone Trick or Treating for canned goods, baked Christmas cookies for the Palmetto House, had dinner and a movie, and many other fun programs.

Special Events
HSYM Mountain Retreat
Need that extra something to start the school year on the right foot? This is your opportunity. Each year in September there is a retreat held for high school students at Camps Kahdalea & Chosatonga in Brevard, NC. These camps are located in the Pisgah National Forest and offer a scenic and natural getaway from the heat, humidity, hustle and bustle of the start of a new school year. There are games, talks, leadership activities, light hiking, and free time for personal prayer and reflection. In even numbered years there is white water rafting, and odd numbered years there is a ropes course challenge. If you are interested in attending contact the Office of Youth Ministry.
Trick or Treat for the Poor
Held each Halloween Night
This is a simple event to collect canned goods or non-perishable food items for our local food banks. Instead of dressing up in costumes and trick or treating for candy, high school students trick or treat for canned goods within their own neighborhoods. Teens will bring the collected canned goods to the next HSYM Life Night. All items are donated to local area food banks. It is amazing to see the look on an adult's face when teenagers show up asking for canned goods instead of candy.
Young Ladies Retreat
Held the second weekend of November at Camp Kinard
This event is open to young ladies only, from the 9th-12th grade. This is a retreat that will strengthen your spiritual life as a daughter of Christ, as well as encourage faith-filled friendships with other Catholic girls from the diocese. For more information,

Thanksgiving Basket Project
This is held the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving weekend at an area participating church. This includes a prayer service, loading family meal groceries, and driving with your family to drop off all the trimmings for a thanksgiving meal to a family in need.
Breakfast with Santa
This event is held on a Saturday in December. High school teens invite children and their parents to come have breakfast with St. Nick and have pictures, crafts, music, and fun. High school students cook breakfast, decorate, run crafts and games, and help with photos with Santa.
Catholic Youth Stand Up For Life
This event is held on the second or third Saturday in January to coincide with the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision. This is a trip to Columbia where young (and old alike) march to the steps of the state house building. This is an all day event.
High School Youth Conference
Held the First Weekend in March
This is the Annual State Catholic Youth Conference at White Oak Conference Center! Music, comedy, workshops, faith sharing, sports, and a house band. Join hundreds of teens from around the state to celebrate our Catholic faith where you're guaranteed to have a good time!
Search for Christian Maturity
Held the second weekend of April
SEARCH for Christian Maturity is a retreat program offered by the Diocese of Charleston. SEARCH is different from most high school retreats because it is not only for teenagers, it is run by teenagers. It is a form of peer ministry. This cannot be stressed enough. Peers have a tremendous impact on one another and we want to foster that in a loving Christian environment. SEARCH is a weekend experience in Christian living. It is designed to help individuals see their value as members of the Christian community. SEARCH tries to give them the desire to see and bring Christ into their own lives and environment and share Him with those around them. For more information,

Senior Dinner
This is the last regular HSYM Life Night meeting of the year and it is held in honor of those students who will be graduating from high school and leaving us. We honor them with pictures, stories and a little something for them to remember us and St. John the Beloved.
