Youth Ministry Volunteers

The EDGE Core Team
Meets each week at Middle School Youth Group Sunday afternoons from 3:30-5pm with 30 minute planning meetings prior.

This group is open to any 10-12th grade high school student, college student, or parent wishing to lead, laugh, and listen to our Middle School Youth Group: The Edge. Are you leadership material? We want you!

HSYM (Lifeteen) Core Team
Role of the Core
Foster relationships with the teens that will enhance their faith. Help plan and implement programs including retreats and outings. Serve as examples of Christ's love by being positive role models in the church and community. Support the youth group and its volunteers through an active faith and prayer life.

Core members are asked to:
Commit to the youth ministry for atleast the full school year.
Register and attend the VIRTUS® “Protecting God’s Children” Program in the Diocese of Charleston.
Understand the three part youth ministry mission statement as well as the youth ministry program components and commit to help fulfill these purposes by caring for the students in this ministry.

VIRTUS® for Volunteers Working With Minors
The VIRTUS® programs assist the Church in being a safe haven for children and a messenger for preventing child sexual abuse within the Church and society in general. We seek to achieve this lofty goal through our child sexual abuse prevention program: Protecting God's Children®.

All parish volunteers working with minors must attend a VIRTUS® "Protecting God's Children" Program. This includes driving children other than your own to and from special events. See below for directions about how to register.

1. Go to www.virtus.org.
2. Click on the “Registration” tab on the left column.
3. Select Diocese of Charleston, SC from the drop down menu.
4. Complete your registration information and check the box next to the training session you wish to attend. (There are many to choose from.)
5. Click “Submit Registration.” You will get a message on the screen confirming the registration.
6. Attend the session you have chosen and be sure to sign-in on the sign-in sheets.
